Takata Recalls More Airbags~2 min read
The international airbag manufacturing concern known as the Takata Corporation has been forced to issue a recall on more than 40 million airbags that have already been installed. These airbags can malfunction in a very dangerous way under accident conditions. In some cases, they have been known to spray metal shrapnel through the drivers compartment during an accident. These malfunctions are most common in warm areas, humid areas, and with airbags that have aged. Vehicles containing these hazardous Takata airbags are already on the roads of the United States, and a number of American citizens have already been hurt by them. Anyone who has received an injury from a defective safety product should seek legal representation to protect their rights and garner appropriate representation. Reputable personal injury law firms like Springer and Lyle stand ready to assist victims in their journey through the legal system.
This ongoing recall has grown by 3.3 million in recent months, driving the Takata Corporation deeper into the bankruptcy forced upon them by the expense of replacing their defective product.
The vast majority of malfunctioning airbags made by Takata and subject to this recall were installed in vehicles as follows:
- Acura
- Audi
- BMW
- Buick
- Cadillac
- Chevrolet
- Chrysler
- Daimler
- Dodge/Ram
- Ferrari
- Fisker
- Ford
- FMC

For more information and a detailed list of the recalled vehicles see Takata Recall.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Organization has required that the manufacturers replace these defective safety devices with no cost to the consumer. Any customer who has received a recall notice should simply bring their vehicle into any participating dealership for a free replacement of the faulty components. Unfortunately, the newest Takata recall might affect airbags that had already been replaced under a different recall. These airbags will simply need to be replaced a second time.
